The creator content glossary
Plain-English definitions of the video, AI, and content terms every creator runs into — from Auto-Reframe to virality score.
Aspect Ratio
The width-to-height ratio of a video frame. 16:9 is widescreen (YouTube), 9:16 is vertical (Shorts, Reels, TikTok), and 1:1 is square.
Audiogram
A shareable video built from audio — usually a waveform or static visual with animated captions — used to promote podcasts on social feeds.
Auto-Reframe
AI that converts a widescreen 16:9 video to vertical 9:16 by tracking the active speaker and keeping them in frame automatically.
B-roll
Supplementary footage cut in over the main shot to add visual interest or illustrate a point being made.
Brand Kit
A saved set of brand assets — logo, colors, fonts, subtitle style, and outro — that applies to any project in one click for consistent branding.
Bulk Publishing
Scheduling or posting many pieces of content across platforms at once, rather than uploading them one at a time.
Captions / Subtitles
On-screen text of the words spoken in a video. They boost watch time and accessibility and let people watch with the sound off.
Carousel
A multi-slide post (common on Instagram and LinkedIn) that viewers swipe through — ideal for storytelling and education.
Chapters
Timestamped sections that break a long video into navigable parts, each with its own title — useful for podcasts and lectures.
Chat with Video
A conversational interface that lets you ask questions about a video's transcript and turn the answers into posts, articles, or clips.
Click-Through Rate (CTR)
The percentage of people who click after seeing something, such as a thumbnail. A key metric for YouTube titles and thumbnails.
Content Calendar
A schedule that plans what content goes out, when, and on which platform, giving a clear view of your posting cadence.
Content Repurposing
Turning one piece of content into many formats — for example, a long video into clips, posts, carousels, and articles.
Engagement Rate
The share of an audience that interacts with content (likes, comments, shares, saves) relative to reach or follower count.
Faceless Video
Short-form video made without appearing on camera — typically combining an AI voiceover, captions, and stock or AI-generated visuals.
Filler Words
Words like 'um', 'uh', and 'like' that add no meaning. Removing them tightens a video's pacing.
Gap Clips
AI clips that stitch together separate, non-adjacent moments from a video into one cohesive short — like a hand-made montage.
Highlight Clips
Clips generated by analyzing audio and visual signals to detect the highest-attention moments in a video, beyond just the transcript.
Hook
The opening seconds of a video or post, engineered to grab attention and stop the scroll before viewers swipe away.
Keyword-Based Clips
Clips found by searching a video's transcript for a keyword or natural-language phrase, with smart or exact-match modes.
Long-form Content
Longer content such as full YouTube videos, podcasts, and webinars — the source material that repurposing draws from.
Manual Reframe
Setting the crop, zoom, and layout of a vertical video yourself, segment by segment, for full creative control.
Short-form Content
Brief vertical videos, usually under 60–90 seconds, made for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.
Shorts
YouTube's short-form vertical video format, surfaced in a dedicated Shorts feed.
Silence Removal
Automatically cutting long pauses and dead air from a video to improve pacing and hold attention.
SRT
SubRip Subtitle file — a plain-text format that stores captions with timestamps, importable by most platforms and editors.
Style Profile
A model of your personal writing voice, learned from your past posts, used to generate content that sounds like you.
Text-Based Editing
Editing a video by editing its transcript — delete a word and the matching footage is removed, with no timeline scrubbing.
Thumbnail
The clickable preview image for a video. A strong thumbnail is one of the biggest drivers of click-through rate.
Transcript
The full text of everything spoken in a video, produced by AI transcription — the foundation for captions, clips, and writing.
Virality Score
A predicted rating of how likely a clip is to perform well, used to rank AI-proposed clips so you edit the best ones first.
Visual Search
Finding a moment in a video by describing what appears on screen, letting AI locate it and build a clip around that moment.
Voice-Aligned Writing
AI writing tuned to match your personal tone and style, rather than producing generic, templated output.
Watermark
A logo or label overlaid on an exported video. Clipo's free plan adds one; paid plans export watermark-free.
Word-by-Word Captions
An animated caption style where each word appears in sync with speech — a popular look on TikTok and Reels.
